My work is rooted in the ancestral...

My work is rooted in the ancestral ceramic traditions of San Juan de Oriente, Nicaragua, a community renowned for its centuries-old pottery heritage. Through hand-built and intricately carved ceramics, I create pieces that honor the knowledge passed down through generations while exploring new forms of artistic expression.

Inspired by pre-Columbian symbolism, nature, geometry, and ritual forms, my work transforms traditional pottery techniques into contemporary sculptural surfaces rich in texture, movement, and detail. Each piece is crafted entirely by hand through a process that demands patience, precision, and a deep respect for the material.

For me, clay is more than a medium—it is a connection to history, identity, and cultural continuity. My artistic practice seeks to preserve and reinterpret Nicaragua’s Indigenous visual heritage, bringing ancestral narratives into dialogue with contemporary art and design.

While deeply grounded in tradition, my work extends beyond functional or decorative ceramics. I create collectible works that invite reflection on culture, memory, and craftsmanship, offering a contemporary perspective on an enduring artistic legacy.

Through exhibitions, museum presentations, and international art festivals, I aim to build cultural bridges between past and present, tradition and innovation, and local heritage and the global contemporary art community.
